The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is the longest and toughest sled dog race in the lower 48 states. The 390 mile race starts in Duluth, MN and follows the North Shore trail along Lake Superior, returning on the same trail to finish back in Duluth. The race draws competitors from around the globe and is a qualifying race for the Iditarod in Alaska. The race started out with temps around +32°F on Sunday and ended with temps around -20°F and windchills around -50°F on Wednesday morning.
