Shemya Snapshots : This gallery contains snapshots of Shemya Island, Alaska. I worked here 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off from December 2004 to May 2007. Shemya is a small two mile by four mile island located at the end of the Aleutian chain in Alaska. It is about 1500 air miles from Anchorage and is closer to Russia (about 200 miles) and Japan (about 1200 miles).
